The NRA changed the way the Basic Pistol class is conducted over the past couple of years Basic Pistol Students now have the option to complete the Basic Pistol Level I online at nraonlinetraining.org prior to completing the program with a certified instructor. This is a blended learning program similar to many of the other programs out there that have been very successful. This will allow you to complete the “classroom” portion at your convenience on your schedule. It is recommended that you allow yourself at least 8 hours to complete the course and you should plan on taking a break about every hour for maximum retention. The code to begin your online course is $25 if you include it with your Phase 2 registration. Otherwise, the online course will cost $60 through the NRA.
Upon completion of the online course we will be notified that you are ready to proceed. During the Level II portion we will review the safety rules and shooting fundamentals you learned in the online portion and then we will proceed to conduct the practical portion of the course. We will be shooting from the bench rest and the standing position and after some practice, you will be given an opportunity to qualify as a Red White or Blue graduate. The course will be conducted in the evening and since it is objective based, we will proceed until we are done or until it is too late. If we do not complete the course in the time alotted, you will be able to come to the next scheduled Level II course and complete the required shooting.
