This two day package includes all of the components necessary to become an NRA Pistol Instructor. If you are not currently an NRA member and would like to take advantage of the lower credentialing rates for members, it would be much more convenient if you obtained your NRA number prior to class. It is not required to be an NRA member to be an NRA instructor, but it will save you money on your ongoing credentialing fees.
Our NRA Pistol Instructor Training course is designed to develop NRA Certified Instructors who possess the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary to conduct the NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course. The Pistol Instructor Training begins with our NRA Basic Instructor Training class, then the Basics of Pistol Shooting Student Course, and then the Pistol Instructor Training. These 3 classes together form the required course for NRA Pistol Instructor certification. (You are not considered an NRA Certified Instructor until the NRA Training Department processes your application and issues your instructor credentials.) This package includes the Basic Instructor Training (BIT), the Basics of Pistol Shooting Student Course and the Pistol Instructor Training so no other courses will be required to obtain your NRA Pistol Instructor Credentials after passing this course. As an NRA Instructor, you will be ceertifed to offer the NRA Blended Learning Pistol Couse which is a hybrid online/classroom/range course. If you’d like to see how the online course is presented before class, you are welcome to purchase a code during your registration and complete the course before class. This will make you will be familiar with the material your blended students will be getting before coming to you. NRA Pistol Instructor certification is a requirement for becoming a Concealed Handgun Permit (CHP) Instructor in Nebraska, Iowa, Colorado, Missouri, and many other states. Remember that the individual states decide all matters relating to their CHP programs including whether, when, and to whom they issue Instructor certificates. You must apply directly to your state and meet their requirements for certification as a CHP instructor.
The Training Counselor (Justin Grusing) for this course has been a Nebraska Concealed Carry instructor for several years so if you are taking this class to prepare for becoming a concealed carry instructor you will be able to get many of your questions answered to make the journey much smoother.
This is a full weekend which includes the Basic Instructor Training and the Basic Pistol student course as well as the prequalification shooting drills and the actual instructor course. Your lunches and snacks will be included. We also have on-site accommodations for those traveling from out of town at no additional charge.
You will need to bring your handgun and approximately 300 rounds of ammo (any caliber is acceptable) so you can demonstrate your ability to shoot to the standards required to be an NRA instructor. You will be required to shoot 16 out of 20 rounds in a 6″ groups on an 8″ target from 15 yards. You will be given two chances every day if you do not accomplish this the first time. We will have the range open on Friday evening for those who would like to get an extra two chances before class begins. Please keep in mind that you will also be required to shoot the student course which consists of hitting 4″ targets from 10′, 15′, and 20′. NOTICE: The NRA offers an optional online course which you will be certified to teach after successful completion of this course. If you would like to become familiar with the material you can add the online course for $25. The NRA charges $60 for this course, but we can offer a code for $25 I will send you the code to enroll in the course online upon payment.
The $300 includes the Basic Instructor Training, the Instructor-Led student course, and the Pistol Instructor training. Classes start at 8:00 am at the Nebraska Shooters Training Academy at 3200 Gage Rd Firth, NE 68358.
