SUMMARY:NRA Chief Range Safety Officer
DESCRIPTION:This course is approximately nine hours long and is conducted i
 n a classroom and at a shooting facility. The CRSO class enables you to c
 onduct classes for RSO candidates. This class includes the free Basic Ins
 tructor Training section on 9/22/18 if you have not had a BIT course in th
 e previous 2 year or want a refresher.  A BIT course is required to obtai
 n your CRSO credentials.  The BIT course takes about 5 hours and we will 
 likely start on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 pm.\n\nIf you do not currently 
 have your RSO certification\, you will need to come on 8/26/18 and get cer
 tified as an RSO.  You can get a discount on the RSO class if you select 
 the bundle below when you sign up for the CRSO course.  Lunch and materi
 als are provided.  We also have a bunkhouse available free of charge for 
 those traveling.\n\nOn August 26th\, Range Safety Officer candidates will 
 learn roles and responsibilities of an RSO\; Range Standard Operating Proc
 edures (SOPs)\; range inspection\; range rules\; range briefings\; emergen
 cy procedures\; and firearm stoppages and malfunctions. Each Range Safety 
 Officer Candidate will receive an RSO Student Study Guide\, a Basic Firear
 m Training Program brochure\, an NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure\, an Instru
 ctor Application/Course Evaluation form.\n\nNRA Range Safety Officers poss
 ess the knowledge\, skills\, and attitude essential to organizing\, conduc
 ting\, and supervising safe shooting activities and range operations indoo
 rs and outdoors.\n\nThe NRA developed its program in response to the deman
 d for a nationally-recognized Range Safety Officer ("RSO") certification. 
 Our class and the certification should be especially valuable to firearms 
 instructors including CHP instructors.\n\nIn review\, If you do not have a
 ny current credentials\, you will need the RSO(8/26/18)\, BIT(9/22/18)\, a
 nd CRSO(9/23/18) course to become a CRSO.  If you are currently an instru
 ctor and you have had your BIT within the past 2 years\, you can skip the 
 BIT on 9/22/18.  If you are a current RSO and you have not completed the 
 BIT in the past 2 years you will only need the 9/22/18 BIT and the 9/23/18
  CRSO course.
