SUMMARY:NRA Chief Range Safety Officer
DESCRIPTION:This course is approximately nine hours long and is conducted i
 n a classroom at the Tangier Shrine in Omaha. The CRSO certification enabl
 es you to conduct classes for RSO candidates.  If you have not had a Basi
 c Instructor Training (BIT) course in the previous 2 years\, remember a BI
 T course is required to obtain your CRSO credentials.\nIf you do not curre
 ntly have your Range Safety Officer certification\, you will need to obtai
 n that before attending this course.\n\nRange Safety Officer candidates wi
 ll learn roles and responsibilities of an RSO\; Range Standard Operating P
 rocedures (SOPs)\; range inspection\; range rules\; range briefings\; emer
 gency procedures\; and firearm stoppages and malfunctions. Each Range Safe
 ty Officer Candidate will receive an RSO Student Study Guide\, a Basic Fir
 earm Training Program brochure\, an NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure\, an Ins
 tructor Application/Course Evaluation form.\n\nNRA Range Safety Officers p
 ossess the knowledge\, skills\, and attitude essential to organizing\, con
 ducting\, and supervising safe shooting activities and range operations in
 doors and outdoors.\n\nThe NRA developed its program in response to the de
 mand for a nationally-recognized Range Safety Officer ("RSO") certificatio
 n. Our class and the certification should be especially valuable to firear
 ms instructors including CHP instructors.\n\nIn review\, If you do not hav
 e any current credentials\, you will need the RSO course prior to attendin
 g the CRSO course.  If you are currently an instructor and you have had y
 our BIT within the past 2 years\, you can skip the BIT.  If you are a cur
 rent RSO and you have  completed the BIT in the past 2 years you will onl
 y need the CRSO course.  The BIT will be offered on Saturday evening for 
 those who need it.\n\nLunch will be provided.\n\n&nbsp\;
