Norm has more than 46 years experience in operational law enforcement\, training\, logis tical and support planning for private security companies\, military and s tate police organizations. He is a certified instructor of law enforcement subjects by the Alaska Police Standards Council. He has Extensive “Use of Force” training experience with lethal and less-lethal weapons and 30 plus years conducting rifle\, pistol and shotgun training\, including Con cealed Carry courses as an independent contractor with a private firearms academy in Alaska and as a former adjunct instructor at Blackwater Worldwi de\, Inc. Norm is a NRA instructor certified in Pistol\, Rifle\, Shotgun\, Refuse to be a Victim\, and Chief Range Safety Officer and holds the “N RA Distinguished Expert Pistol and Shotgun” rating and has been appointe d by the NRA as an Advanced Defensive Pistol Instructor. Norm has graduate d from the Anchorage Police Department Citizens Academy\, the South Bend C itizens Police Academy and the St. Joseph County Citizens Police Academy. Norm is a member of the Church Security Alliance and is an Affiliate Instr uctor\, Armed Citizens Legal Defense Network. He is a member of the Intern ational Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers Association (ILEETA)\, Illi nois Tactical Officers Association (IOTA)\, and is certified by the State of Indiana as an Emergency Medical Responder\, the State of Illinois as a Certified Firearms Instructor\, Illinois Concealed Carry Firearms Instruct or\, GLOCK Armorer\, and FEMA as an Active Shooter Responder Trainer. Norm is Yondan\, 4th Dan (4th degree Black Belt) in Hojutsu-Ryu (the Martial A rt of Shooting) and runs the only Hojutsu-Ryu dojo in the Mid-west. He is also a student of Okinawan Shorin-Ryu karate. Norm is a 2015 inductee in t he USA Martial Arts Hall of Fame and Hall of Hero’s. Norm is the Regiona l Master Instructor for the Second Amendment Foundation Training Division covering Indiana\, Michigan\, and Ohio. Defensive Solutions also teaches N ational Safety Council First Aid/CPR/AED. Norm annually attends advanced t raining classes to stay current on new techniques allowing him to maintain an exceptionally high level of proficiency.
