Norm has more than 46 y ears’ experience in operational law enforcement\, training\, logistical and support planning for private security companies\, military and state p olice organizations. He is a certified instructor of law enforcement subje cts by the Alaska Police Standards Council. He has Extensive “Use of For ce” training experience with lethal and less-lethal weapons and 30 plus years conducting rifle\, pistol and shotgun training\, including Concealed Carry courses as an independent contractor with a private firearms academ y in Alaska and as a former adjunct instructor at Blackwater Worldwide\, I nc. Norm is a NRA instructor certified in Pistol\, Rifle\, Shotgun\, Refus e to be a Victim\, and Chief Range Safety Officer and holds the “NRA Dis tinguished Expert Pistol and Shotgun” rating and has been appointed by t he NRA as an Advanced Defensive Pistol Instructor. Norm has graduated from the Anchorage Police Department Citizens Academy\, the South Bend Citizen s Police Academy and the St. Joseph County Citizens Police Academy. Norm i s a member of the Church Security Alliance and is an Affiliate Instructor\ , Armed Citizens Legal Defense Network. He is a member of the Internationa l Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers Association (ILEETA)\, Illinois T actical Officers Association (IOTA)\, and is certified by the State of Ind iana as an Emergency Medical Responder\, the State of Illinois as a Certif ied Firearms Instructor\, Illinois Concealed Carry Firearms Instructor\, G LOCK Armorer\, and FEMA as an Active Shooter Responder Trainer. Norm is Yo ndan\, 4th Dan (4th degree Black Belt) in Hojutsu-Ryu (the Martial Art of Shooting) and runs the only Hojutsu-Ryu dojo in the Mid-west. He is also a student of Okinawan Shorin-Ryu karate. Norm is a 2015 inductee in the USA Martial Arts Hall of Fame and Hall of Hero’s. Norm is the Regional Mast er Instructor for the Second Amendment Foundation Training Division coveri ng Indiana\, Michigan\, and Ohio. Defensive Solutions also teaches Nationa l Safety Council First Aid/CPR/AED.
