Norm h as more than 46 years experience in operational law enforcement\, training \, logistical and support planning for private security companies\, milita ry and state police organizations. He is a certified instructor of law enf orcement subjects by the Alaska Police Standards Council. He has Extensive “Use of Force” training experience with lethal and less-lethal weapon s and 30 plus years conducting rifle\, pistol and shotgun training\, inclu ding Concealed Carry courses as an independent contractor with a private f irearms academy in Alaska and as a former adjunct instructor at Blackwater Worldwide\, Inc. Norm is a NRA instructor certified in Pistol\, Rifle\, S hotgun\, Refuse to be a Victim\, and Chief Range Safety Officer and holds the “NRA Distinguished Expert Pistol and Shotgun” rating and has been appointed by the NRA as an Advanced Defensive Pistol Instructor. Norm has graduated from the Anchorage Police Department Citizens Academy\, the Sout h Bend Citizens Police Academy and the St. Joseph County Citizens Police A cademy. Norm is a member of the Church Security Alliance and is an Affilia te Instructor\, Armed Citizens Legal Defense Network. He is a member of th e International Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers Association (ILEETA )\, Illinois Tactical Officers Association (IOTA)\, and is certified by th e State of Indiana as an Emergency Medical Responder\, the State of Illino is as a Certified Firearms Instructor\, Illinois Concealed Carry Firearms Instructor\, GLOCK Armorer\, and FEMA as an Active Shooter Responder Train er. Norm is Yondan\, 4th Dan (4th degree Black Belt) in Hojutsu-Ryu (the M artial Art of Shooting) and runs the only Hojutsu-Ryu dojo in the Mid-west . He is also a student of Okinawan Shorin-Ryu karate. Norm is a 2015 induc tee in the USA Martial Arts Hall of Fame and Hall of Hero’s. Norm is the Regional Master Instructor for the Second Amendment Foundation Training D ivision covering Indiana\, Michigan\, and Ohio. Defensive Solutions also t eaches National Safety Council First Aid/CPR/AED. Norm annually attends ad vanced training classes to stay current on new techniques allowing him to maintain an exceptionally high level of proficiency.
