Norm has more than 46 years experience in operational la w enforcement\, training\, logistical and support planning for private sec urity companies\, military and state police organizations. He is a certifi ed instructor of law enforcement subjects by the Alaska Police Standards C ouncil. He has Extensive “Use of Force” training experience with letha l and less-lethal weapons and 30 plus years conducting rifle\, pistol and shotgun training\, including Concealed Carry courses as an independent con tractor with a private firearms academy in Alaska and as a former adjunct instructor at Blackwater Worldwide\, Inc. Norm is a NRA instructor certifi ed in Pistol\, Rifle\, Shotgun\, Refuse to be a Victim\, and Chief Range S afety Officer and holds the “NRA Distinguished Expert Pistol and Shotgun ” rating and has been appointed by the NRA as an Advanced Defensive Pist ol Instructor. Norm has graduated from the Anchorage Police Department Cit izens Academy\, the South Bend Citizens Police Academy and the St. Joseph County Citizens Police Academy. Norm is a member of the Church Security Al liance and is an Affiliate Instructor\, Armed Citizens Legal Defense Netwo rk. He is a member of the International Law Enforcement Educators and Trai ners Association (ILEETA)\, Illinois Tactical Officers Association (IOTA)\ , and is certified by the State of Indiana as an Emergency Medical Respond er\, the State of Illinois as a Certified Firearms Instructor\, Illinois C oncealed Carry Firearms Instructor\, GLOCK Armorer\, and FEMA as an Active Shooter Responder Trainer. Norm is Yondan\, 4th Dan (4th degree Black Bel t) in Hojutsu-Ryu (the Martial Art of Shooting) and runs the only Hojutsu- Ryu dojo in the Mid-west. He is also a student of Okinawan Shorin-Ryu kara te. Norm is a 2015 inductee in the USA Martial Arts Hall of Fame and Hall of Hero’s. Norm is the Regional Master Instructor for the Second Amendme nt Foundation Training Division covering Indiana\, Michigan\, and Ohio. De fensive Solutions also teaches National Safety Council First Aid/CPR/AED. Norm annually attends advanced training classes to stay current on new tec hniques allowing him to maintain an exceptionally high level of proficienc y.
