Brent recently retired as the Training Lieutenant for the Douglas County Department of Correction (Nebraska) after 24 years of dedicated service.  His responsibilities consisted of program research/development, presentation design, staff management, and the certification of instructors in self-defense.  He oversaw all New Hire Academy, annual, and sub-contracted staff training within the facility.  Brent was also looked to as the use of force “expert” within his facility.  As a Shift Commander, his oversight areas included facility operations, crisis control, staff and inmate management.

Brent possesses over 23 years’ experience as an instructor and earned his Certified Correctional Trainer credential through the AJA in 2012.  He has provided additional services to the National Institute of Corrections, American Jail Association, and the Bureau of Indian Affairs where he assisted with providing Indian Country Jail corrections officers’ current correctional instruction.  He has an degree in criminal justice and is an adjunct instructor for Metropolitan Community College (Omaha).
