We are fortunate enough to have 4 certified Hunter Education instructors affiliated with Nebraska Shooters so we try to have several classes every year. We recently built a new classroom so we can accommodate up to 25 students as long as we can get enough help. If you would like to reserve a spot in the next class please go to the schedule and find the class you want and make your booking. Once the class is full please come back in a couple months and check again to see when the next class is scheduled.
We often offer a combination Bowhunter and Rifle class so the students can get both certifications in one weekend if they just stick around for a while longer on the second day of class.
We can now offer the Hunt Safe Sessions which replaces the old field day. The Hunt Safe Session if the final portion of the new online program. The Hunt Safe Session is required to complete the Nebraska online learning program if you are under between 11 and 16 years old. For those over 16, you can get your hunter and bowhuinter safety cards by simply completing the online program. The Hunt Safe Session is approximately 2 hours long and does not require any additional tests. The firearm and archery programs can be accessed through the game and Parks website at http://outdoornebraska.ne.gov/hunting/programs/education/hunted.asp.
The link to the bowhunter independent study course is also available on that page and there is a small fee for the Bowhunter Independent study course since it is provided by the International Bowhunter Education Association.
The firearm safety course is an International Hunter Education Association certified course and we do have the students demonstrate their skills on the firing range with a shotgun and a rifle in the 2-day full class version.
Before attending the course all minors must have a parental release form signed by their parent or guardian. Download here
Once you have completed the course you can access your certificate a couple days later HERE
We have been using a program called HETools to help the students learn the proper placement of a shot into the vital areas of their quarry. If you'd like a free copy feel free to go to http://www.huntercourse.com/hetools/ and download it.
